A holiday on a remote tropical island can seem to be one of the most appealing getaways to us. However, some islands aren’t the kind of paradises you would hope for.

There are innumerable islands which are so haunted and uninhabitable that it’s best to stay away from them. Let’s take a look at some of the eerie islands on our planet.


The Isola La Gaiola

The locals in Naples believe that this island is cursed. Every owner has ended up either dead or destitute.


This intriguing island near Yemen boasts of some of the most unique flora and fauna. Many of the species there are not found anywhere else on Earth.

This famous island prison has been abandoned for half a century now. Many believe that it is inhabited by a paranormal presence.

Sable Island

Called the Graveyard of the Atlantic, this island is located off the coast of Nova Scotia. Only horses and shipwrecks inhabit this island.

Vulcan Point

Try and get this straight: this is a spot inside a lake, which is inside an island inside a lake on an island. Pretty weird indeed!

North Sentinel Island

Part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a union territory of India. The tribals here live in complete isolation of the modern world and attempt to kill anyone who tries to set foot on their island.

Izu Islands
